Privacy Policy

Last updated: April 21, 2026

MyCocoon is built on a simple principle: your health data stays on your device. This policy explains what data the app touches, where it goes, and what we (the people who make MyCocoon) can and cannot see.

Who we are

MyCocoon is made by a small independent team based in Australia. Contact us at support@trymycocoon.com.

The short version

  • We do not have a backend server. MyCocoon does not send your data to our servers because we don't run any.
  • Raw HealthKit data stays on your device, always. Apple's HealthKit guidelines explicitly require this, and the app is architected to enforce it.
  • Your journal, photos, kick counts, and milestones sync through your own iCloud account via Apple's CloudKit. We cannot read them.
  • No ads, no tracking, no analytics vendors in the app itself.
  • AI processing (when you use AI features) is the only time data briefly leaves your device. See the AI section below for specifics.

What data the app handles

Stored locally on your device (never leaves)

The following data lives in a local-only SwiftData store on your iPhone. It is never synced to iCloud, never sent to us, never shared with any third party:

  • Heart rate, resting heart rate
  • Sleep duration and sleep stages
  • Blood pressure (if you record it in the Health app)
  • Weight (if recorded in Health)
  • Step count, active energy
  • Any other HealthKit value the app reads with your permission

These values are read via Apple's HealthKit framework, which requires your explicit permission per-signal.

Stored in your personal iCloud (syncs between your devices)

The following data syncs via Apple's CloudKit to your own iCloud account. This is the same iCloud you use for Photos, Notes, or Messages, we have no access to it:

  • Pregnancy profile (due date, gender selection, preferences)
  • Kick counts, contraction entries, symptom logs, weight entries (user-entered)
  • Mood entries
  • Journal entries (text, voice notes you record)
  • Bump photos (stored as photo references plus thumbnails)
  • Appointments
  • AI-generated factual captions and reflection questions for your journal

If you delete the app, iCloud removes this data automatically. If you sign out of iCloud, the app falls back to local-only storage.

Data sent to AI services (only when you use AI features)

MyCocoon offers optional AI features, mascot conversations, journal reflection prompts, photo captions from OCR, milestone summaries. When you use these:

  • The minimum text or image data needed for the request is sent to an AI provider (currently Anthropic's Claude API and Apple Intelligence on-device where possible).
  • These providers process the request and return a response.
  • We do not retain the request or response on our servers (we don't have any).
  • The AI providers have their own privacy policies: Anthropic, Apple Intelligence.
  • You can disable AI features entirely in Settings.

Data we never collect

  • Your real name, email address, phone number (unless you email support)
  • Your location
  • Your contact list
  • Your photos outside what you explicitly add to the app
  • Cross-app tracking identifiers (IDFA)
  • Crash reports with personally-identifying content

Analytics

MyCocoon uses no third-party analytics SDKs in the app. We don't use Firebase Analytics, Mixpanel, Amplitude, Segment, or similar.

Apple provides opt-in aggregate crash data to developers through App Store Connect. This data is not personally identifying and we cannot link it back to you.

Marketing website (trymycocoon.com)

This website is hosted on Vercel. Vercel may log anonymous request data (IP, user agent, URL) for security and performance. The site uses no tracking cookies, no ad networks, and no third-party analytics.

Children

MyCocoon is not designed for children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect data from children.

Your rights

Since the app has no backend, we have no account to delete and no data of yours to export. All your data is on your device and your iCloud. To remove it:

  • Delete the app, removes all local data and the app's iCloud container
  • Revoke HealthKit permissions, Settings → Privacy & Security → Health → MyCocoon
  • Disable iCloud sync for the app, Settings → Apple ID → iCloud → Apps Using iCloud → MyCocoon

If you're in a jurisdiction with specific rights (GDPR, CCPA, Australia Privacy Act), those rights apply, but there is typically no data on our side to act on. Email support@trymycocoon.comif you have questions.

Changes to this policy

If we change this policy, the new version is posted at this URL with the "Last updated" date changed. Substantive changes will be announced in-app.
